Writing, Revising The Munroe Mansion
I’ve been working on my novel The Munroe Mansion this week. Book One of The Munroe Series is almost done. I had orginally called it The Mansion on the Hill , but then decided I’ll still use that title but for a later chapter.I tried revising the beginning of the story and it was too difficult, so instead I ended up writing a whole new beginning Here I am 50,000 words later and I’ve written something better than before. I’ve been working on this novel for almost a year now. It’s been a slow process, but I make sure it’s fun. Sometimes I hate doing it, but I keep telling myself it will pay off in the end, at least I hope so!When I read the different guides for writing manuscripts, they said, when you have writers block, you either write something else , blog or post something in your journal. It helps to keep the creative juices flowing. You can also start making up an outline with ideas for another book.I’ve been rewriting 10 parts to this book and it just keeps coming! Endless ideas and characters, so now it will be a series of books, like a trilogy only longer. I’m thinking of keeping each section about 60,000 words, so that it’s a novella, or a paperback.I like reading paperbacks myself, so much easier to tuck into a purse or gym bag and take along with you for lunch.I did more reading when I worked at a job, then I do writing at home. I find I’m always doing a different project and most I haven’t finished. I am a great starter, not so good a finisher.I have set the goal for me to finish this book, come hell or high water, it has to be done! I want to accomplish something in this life before it’s my time to go. I figure I have another 20 or so years left to live based on my family history all of my relatives died in their 60’s and 70’s.It’s kind of scary to think I’ve been on this earth for 43 years now and I don’t feel like I’ve accomplished much. I proabably have to some people, but I’m hard on myself. I want to accomplish so much more!
